Discounted Canadian carrier Flair Airlines is leasing 13 new Boeing 737 Max 8 jets from Miami-based private equity firm 777 Partners for deliveries "early 2021".
According to Cirium, the Edmonton-based airline, which reported this on January 27, currently operates three 737-800 aircraft.
In 2019, 777 Partners acquired 25% of Flair.
According to the carrier, the move allows Flair to achieve its goal of operating 50 aircraft in five years. The 737 Max will have 186 seats.
In announcing the fleet expansion, Fleur said that 777 Partners "recently signed an agreement with Boeing for 24 new Boeing 737-8 aircraft with the option to purchase 60 more."
On Boeing's website, 777 partners are not listed on Max's customer list. The glider did not immediately respond to questions about when 777 Partners placed the order.
Flair serves approximately 10 Canadian destinations. Before the pandemic, the airline operated seven 737 aircraft and also operated flights from Canada to the United States.
In 2016, Flair began scheduled flights under the NewLeaf Travel Company brand. In 2017, Flair acquired the assets of NewLeaf and changed the airline's name to Flair Airlines.
